Gina Feldberg: 1956-2010

Georgiana Feldberg, a York faculty member and founding mother of NNEWH, passed away on July 10 after a four-year battle with multiple myeloma. Gina was the main impetus behind the original proposal for NNEWH and served as NNEWH’s Academic Co-Director from 1992 to 2001. Trained in the history of science and medicine, she had a strong passion for women’s health issues throughout her academic career. Deepest condolences from many shared communities linked to NNEWH are extended to her husband, Rob Vipond, her daughter, Susanna and her family.

Donations in Gina's honour can be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation for Multiple Myeloma Research 610 University Ave., Toronto Tel: 416-946-6560, St. Stephen's Community House 91 Bellevue Ave., Toronto Tel: 416-925-2103, or Schlesinger Library, Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, 10 Garden Street, Cambridge, MA 02138-3600.

Our Commitment

The National Network on Environments and Women’s Health (NNEWH) is focused on creating strategies for effective change through an understanding of relevant policy issues related to the health of all women in Canada.

NNEWH is a project-based research centre focused primarily on policy-oriented research relating to the impact of different environments on the health of women. In 2009, NNEWH welcomed under its administration two sister working groups: Women and Health Care Reform (WHCR) and Women and Health Protection(WHP).
